Free word-by-word audio for Al Quran app — English and Hindi
# Free word-by-word audio for Al Quran app — English and Hindi## What it isTap any word of the Qur'an. Hear what it means. Not recitation. The *meaning* of the word, spoken aloud.I made this for every word of the Qur'an, in English and in Hindi. It is free. It is finished. Anyone can use it.- Repo: https://github.com/dfordev1/qusx-audio- Try it: https://dfordev1.github.io/qusx-audio/## Why it may help your appYour app already shows word-by-word meaning as text. That helps people who can read.It does not help:- someone who cannot read well- someone who is blind- a child learning by ear- an older person who finds small text hardFor them, sound is the only door in.## The numbers| | English | Hindi ||---|---|---|| Audio clips | 20,498 | 24,182 || Words covered | all 77,432 | all 77,432 || Download size | 128 MB | 155 MB || Cost to you | free | free |You can import all data to your db and use freely## Why it is smallThe same word repeats many times. `Allah` appears 3,141 times, but it is stored as **one file**.So the phone downloads a word once and keeps it. After a few pages, most words are already saved. Everything after that plays instantly.## How to use itOne line gives you the audio for a word:```https://quran-wbw-audio.quran-wbw.workers.dev/en/v1/audio/<c… `en` to `hi` for Hindi. Nothing else changes. Each surah has a small index file that tells you which clip belongs to which word.## Please read this before you use itI want to be honest, because this is the Qur'an and honesty matters more than promotion.**1. A computer speaks it, not a person.**The voice is cloned from a real professional voice. But no human being read these words aloud. It is a machine.**2. It is a translation, not the Qur'an.**Nothing here is recitation. Nothing here should be played as if it were.**3. I have not checked every clip.**About 1,400 English clips were tested by machine. About 19,000 were not. Names like `Zaqqum` and letters like `Alif Laam Meem` cannot be tested this way at all.**4. The meanings are not mine.**The word-by-word text comes from QUL. No translator is named on it, and I could not find out who owns it. If you publish it, this becomes your question too. I did not want to hide it.## What I am askingNothing.Use it if it helps. Ignore it if it does not.If you need it in a different form — different word numbering, a zip file to bundle inside the app, a different language — tell me and I will make it.## If you want another languageAdding Hindi took very little work. The same steps work for Urdu, Bengali, Turkish, Indonesian, Persian. One warning. Urdu did not work. Urdu script does not write short vowels, so the machine guessed them wrong. Hindi worked because Devanagari writes every vowel. If your language leaves vowels out, expect trouble.I am happy to help anyone who wants to try.
