As-salāmu alaikum wa rahmatullah,
JazakAllah Khairan for reaching out to us!
please have a look on the answer below:
Sahih Muslim consists of approximately 7,500 hadith narrations across its introduction and 56 books.
Sahih Muslim contains approximately above 7000 hadith narrations across its introduction and 56 books. Kâtip Çelebi (died 1657) and Siddiq Hasan Khan (died 1890) both counted 7,275 narrations.
Shykh Muhammad Fuad Abdul Baqi (1882 – 1968) wrote that there are 3,033 narrations without considering repetitions.
So, any single hadith isn't missing from Sahih Muslim and both of these countings / numbers are correct. And the difference between these numbers is:
7000 hadith narrations = with repetitions.
They have set a separate number for each of repeated narrations, so the total number increased in their counting and reached at 7000.
3033 hadith narrations = without considering repetitions.
And Shykh Muhammad Fuad Abdul Baqi included all parts of a hadith & its repeated narrations in one number in his counting. So for this reason the total number decreased in his counting and reached at 3033.
For example, please have a look on these hadith narrations bellow:
You’ll see here 9 hadith narrations included in the one number and it was: 1977. (And added a,b,c,d etc with the number as a repeated narrations)
When each of these nine of 1977 is added as an individual hadith with a separate number in other additions of Sahih Muslim.
So the total hadith numbers of Sahih Muslim increased & decreased in this way in its different additions.
Hope, you have got the answer brother.
Jazakallah Khairan.
